Successful coaches, how is it they seem to have it all together? Do they do everything themselves? Even the stuff they don’t know how to do? Discover the ultimate five things they do to stay on top of things.
My name is Jacqui James, I am an online business manager, and to my clients, I am a solutions architect. With an excess of 30 years’ experience in office administration, I’ve met and worked with a lot of successful coaches over the years. I’m going to share with you how they manage to juggle the pressures of running a coaching business with other life commitments.
1. Know when you need to get help
Successful coaches pay attention to their stress levels as well as their mental and physical health. It doesn’t make sense to them to continue to struggle with the stuff they don’t know how to do or want to do. Getting help for your business is easier than you think.
An excellent trigger you need help is when you have absolutely nothing to show for all the time you’ve spent trying to do the stuff you don’t need to do or know how to do. Does this sound familiar?
2. Why you shouldn’t be afraid to say NO!
Creating Margin in your business day is a good thing. Learning to say no to the stuff you don’t know or know how to do becomes easier when you trust others to help.
Acknowledging you don’t know something is the first step, admitting that you need help to put change in place comes next. According to Rohan Dredge, margin creates peace. In a recent post, Rohan said “In every area of life and leadership, margin creates peace. Margin is created by having a vision for what you are creating, doing and accomplishing. Margin gives you the space to create, deliver, enjoy and recreate with room to spare.”
What do you need to do to create Margin?
3. Invest in continual self-education
When I say you need to invest in constant self-education, I’m not talking about all the leadership stuff or the coaching stuff, I’m talking about the back of house stuff that you need for your business, you don’t need to know how to do it, but you do need to know what you want and why you want it.
Once you know what you want to achieve, you can delegate this task to an Online Business Manager. One who has a proven track record has integrity and does what they say they will do.
4. How Successful Coaches Delegate responsibilities to others
Knowing how to delegate is a skill. You either have it or you don’t. If you’re not sure where you sit when it comes to your delegating skills, this is what it looks like when you don’t delegate well.
- Stuck in training mode instead of delegating mode
- Suck at giving instructions
- Try to put a square peg in a round hole
- You set and forget
- Expect perfect results
- Delegate the wrong stuff
What do you need to do to be able to delegate well?
- Know the tasks you want to delegate
- Be clear and concise, provide written instructions or videos
- Find the right person for the job
- If you delegate to the right person, they will provide you with regular updates
- Don’t expect perfection, human error happens
- Know what you want to delegate, then do it
5. How delegating the stuff you don’t know helps your business
Choosing to bring on board an online business manager whose team are experienced in diary management and who can create the processes and systems that are unique for your business, can manage your clients and build and improve on your business relationships with them. We can even set up and manage your business social media profiles.
Successful coaches understand the importance of working with the best. By allowing someone else to be responsible for and manage the administrative side of your business, you will have the time to focus on what really matters whether that’s spending more time with your family, or growing your business.
Successful coaches understand that they don’t have to know everything. They also don’t have to do everything. They need to get the help they need.
